A Passion for Production Ag
Though he’s a relatively new addition to the United Prairie staff in Crescent City, Anthony Conn is no stranger to the agronomy business nor the territory around his home location, Pierson. “I’m originally from Parkville, born and raised on a grain and livestock farm, and still farm with my family,” Anthony says.
After graduating from the University of Illinois with a degree in crop science and ag business, Anthony started right in with GROWMARK, then moved on to Crop Production Services for 10 years, where he ultimately became a sales agronomist and plant manager. He also holds his Certified Crop Adviser license. Anthony joined the United Prairie team three months ago.
“As an active farmer who has worked in operations, sales and management too, I bring a wide range of experience to the farmers I serve,” Anthony says. “What I like most about my job is learning about each individual operation. I enjoy working with customers to solve the challenges of their operations, and seeing what I might have in my experience that would relate to what they’re going through.”
Anthony notes that there is a lot to learn, with the diversity of soil types and farming conditions found in the area he serves. “I’m still meeting people as I work my way through the area,” he says, “getting to know the conditions under which they farm and what their goals are. As a farmer, I feel a strong connection to the production side of ag and look forward to helping our customers strengthen their bottom line.”
