Just What She Hoped for
Finding a job that challenges you to grow without making you feel lost in the process can be a tall order. Kaitlin Magsamen found the perfect combination at United Prairie.
“I was looking for a company that didn’t make you feel like a number,” Kaitlin says. “I love United Prairie because it’s growing and big enough to offer opportunity and job security, but small enough to still have the family atmosphere.”
A native of White Heath, Kaitlin graduated from the University of Illinois this May with a degree in ag business and a minor in crop science. Her first day at United Prairie as a sales associate was June 1, and she’s training to become a sales agronomist.
“The training program here is great, because the training is tailored to what the sales agronomists and I feel will be most beneficial to my development,” Kaitlin explains. “It’s not one-size-fits-all. I’ve enjoyed seeing the different styles of the sales agronomists here, and learning that there is more than one way to do the job effectively.”
Kaitlin particularly enjoys talking to farmers and building relationships, and looks forward to working with them long-term to help make their operations as successful as they can be.
Her biggest surprise so far?
“The independence that I have already,” she states. “That’s also my favorite part of this job. I’m able to learn by doing, with the freedom to ask questions when I need to. I definitely made a good decision in choosing United Prairie.”
